Youth
A word from the Rock ‘em Sock ‘em leader, Matt Lambert:
The Youth Group, after studying through such units in the past as How To Be The Smartest Kid in School, How To Be the Richest Kid in School, World Religions, and How To Study the Bible, has been studying through the book of Mark for the spring semester of 2008. Mark’s account of the life of Jesus the Christ is action oriented, quick, highlighted, and the scenes jump from episode to episode like a modern movie. Jesus is shown in the book as constantly on the move; healing, exorcizing demons, confronting sin, and instructing his disciples at every turn. The point of Mark’s account is to highlight, like a sportscast, certain remarkable works that thrust Jesus into the spotlight. Mark shows how and why Jesus quickly became such a polarizing, fascinating, powerful, and unstoppable force as His ministry dominated cultures and institutions. All this took place while at the same time Jesus continued with his loving, personal work: setting individuals like me, and youths in our church, free from their sin and misery.
