RPC Email Blast 10/23/08

Oct 23rd, 2008 by Gray | 0

If you want to receive the weekly RPC Email Blast, please email the church.

ADOPT A STUDENT

Because of our large student population at Redeemer, we want to reach out to them, welcoming them to Charleston and into the Redeemer community. We want to pair Redeemer families or singles with students who want to be “adopted.” Adopting a student involves befriending and caring for that student by perhaps feeding the student a meal or two during the semester, helping the student find a mechanic to fix his car, or being a listening ear. We have all sorts of students who need adoptive families–College of Charleston, MUSC, Charleston Law, and international students and families. If you or your family would like to adopt a student, please contact Gray at the church office (843-724-1164). If you’re a student who would like to be adopted by a Redeemer family or single, please contact Gray.

FOOD DRIVE

We’ll be collecting canned food and other non-perishable food items over the next month. The food will be divided and given to Crisis Ministries and Tricounty Family Ministries. A food collection box is located in the santuary. Please contact Joy Thomas (843-568-2923) for more information.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDIES

The women’s studies committee has organized a women-only Bible study that Kathy Bailey leads on Tuesday nights at 7 pm. The Bible study will be the at-night counterpart to the women’s Friday morning Bible study: Both studies will look at the life of Moses as told in Exodus and other Old Testament books. The Friday morning Bible study meets at 9:30 am. Both studies meet in the church’s conference room upstairs in the educational building. Please contact Gray at the church office (843-724-1164) for more information.

UGANDA BEADS
Direct from Uganda, the beautiful, beaded necklaces are available for purchase. ALL money goes back to the widows in Uganda who are making the necklaces. The necklaces will be available after the worship service in the blue room (across from the nursery) on the following dates: 2 November, 16 November, 7 December, 14 December, 21 December. If you’re interested in taking beads to your place of work, family gathering, etc., please contact Leven Harrison at 843-475-1855.

We need volunteers to help serve food for the luncheon on Wednesday, 29 October. Volunteers need to arrive at MUSC’s Harper Student Wellness Center, located on the corner of Bee and Courtenay streets, at 11:30 am. WEEKEND TO REMEMBER

No matter if couples are engaged or empty-nesters, the time spent at Family Life’s Weekend to Remember conference aids couples in providing practical, biblical tools to give them purpose, encouragement, and hope. Weekend to Remember is a weekend marriage conference that teaches God’s design for marriage and family. The environment is fun, non-threatening, and sometimes hilarious. And it’s a wonderful time for couples to refresh good marriages or heal troubled ones. Whether you’re engaged, newlywed, or remarried, enrich your marriage and begin a godly legacy for your family by attending the local Charleston conference scheduled for 5-7 December at the Charleston Marriott, located downtown on Lockwood Drive. If you’re interested in attending the conference, please contact Kim Root (843-795-2000) to get the group rate for Redeemer couples.

SPECIAL DIETARY RESTRICTIONS

Redeemer offers wheat-free and gluten-free communion wafers if you have special dietary restrictions that prohibit your taking of the communion bread that’s currently offered. If you need to take advantage of this offering, please contact Gray at the church office (843-724-1164).
